STOP EID RATE INCREASE SCHEDULED FOR FEB 4 2010 (eva_ware1953 01/15/10 2:18pm)
EID has proposed a rate increase of 35 percent in 2010, followed by increases of 15 percent in 2011 and 5 percent in each year from 2012 through 2014 — a cumulative increase of 85 percent. Based on an average water bill of $150 for two months of service, the 35–percent increase would result in a $52 increase per billing cycle for the first year, eventually resulting in an annual increase of more than $312.
A 51 percent protest response from rate payers is required to stop the increase. Customers can send in a letter of protest to the EID office, which must include their parcel number, or they can attend one of two upcoming public meetings to protest the proposed increase.

I like many others in this community am on a fixed income. This proposed rate hike would be very difficult for me. It would come down to paying for water and sewage and not buy much food. I strongly oppose this much of a hike in rates and hope the EID board will reconsider a different way of coming up with the money they need other than putting it always on the ratepayers backs. Enough is enough. (godsch1ld 02/02/10 8:33pm) REPLY
